Statement regarding the use of cookies

Definitions and types of cookies

Please refer to the relevant page of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante):

Types of cookies used

This site uses three types of cookies:

  • technical cookies
  • analytic cookies
  • third-party cookies

Technical cookies

So-called technical cookies are useful for site operation as they can make navigation and use of the web quicker and faster. For example, they make some procedures easier: authentication for accessing reserved areas or when the site automatically recognises the language usually used by the user.

Analytic cookies

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). These are third-party cookies collected and managed anonymously for monitoring and improving the performance of the site. Google Analytics uses “cookies” to anonymously collect and analyse information on web site use behaviour (including the user’s IP address).

The user can selectively disable  the action of Google Analytics from his or her browser by installing the opt-out component provided by Google.

Piwik

Piwik is a web traffic analysis service installed by the aforementioned server provider. Piwik uses cookies to anonymously collect and analyse information regarding web site user behaviour.

Third-party incorporated buttons, social network widgets and scripts

In order to enable site visitors to share site contents on social networks, tools made available by the latter can be integrated in the site pages.
These tools (usually code blocks written in the site pages) can also collect third-party cookies (e.g. Google Maps, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.).
A click to view a map or a video could enable said companies to install cookies on the visitor’s computer or other device.
The handling of information gathered by “third parties” is disciplined by the relevant privacy statement, to which you must refer.
To guarantee greater transparency and convenience, following are the web addresses for accessing the various privacy statements and methods for managing cookies:

Managing and disabling cookies

The user can decide whether to accept or refuse cookies through his or her browser settings. Caution: total or partial disabling of technical cookies can compromise the use of site functions reserved for registered users. On the contrary, public contents can be used even when cookies are completely disabled.
The disabling of “third-party” cookies does not compromise navigation. The setting can be made specifically for the various web sites and applications. Furthermore, the best browsers make it possible to set “proprietary” and “third-party” cookies differently.

The browser can be modified to disable cookies through a very simple procedure. Below are the links and relevant guides:
